History
The 1980s
Richard (Dick) Holmberg founds Sechan (see-kan) in 1985, taking inspiration from his “SEcond CHANce.” The company grows to 100 employees and upgrades to a facility with over 90,000 square feet of production space. Sechan initiates its Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) to reward employees with ownership in the company.
The 1990s
Sechan becomes ISO 9000 certified, furthering its goal of providing customers and end users with highly reliable, quality products. Sechan’s efforts are awarded as the company is recognized with its first major supplier awards: the Small Business Administration Award for Excellence and Boeing’s Small Business Supplier of the Year.
The 2000s
Sechan celebrates its 20th anniversary. The company demonstrates its commitment to continuous improvement of the quality of their production process by achieving both AS9100 Certification and CMMI Maturity Level 3 Rating. By 2008, Sechan becomes 100% employee owned.
The 2010s
Sechan expands its facility to 115,000 square feet and opens a research and development facility across the street from its primary location. Northrop Grumman names Sechan the 2013 Small Business Supplier of the Year and Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems awards Sechan the coveted 5-Star Supplier Award in 2015.
